Training

The workshops provide an introduction to international documentary cinema (an historical and theoretical view), social and critical theory, and practical film skills. During the course students devise, research and produce short documentary films (maximum duration 10 minutes). Working in teams of three the films address, and counter, the negative impact of radicalisation, extremism, and social exclusion. In doing so they also tell the stories of Pakistan’s citizens – how they live and work, the challenges they face, and their aspirations for the future. All of the films made during the workshops are screened in Pakistan, at the LIDF and throughout the UK
Beyond the filmmaking itself the course is designed to create an environment and atmosphere of empowerment, participation and direct involvement, by providing the tools and opportunities for free and constructive expression.
